Yes, this is Wednesday and normally on Wednesdays and Fridays I write about music and stuff like that. Well…there are so many amazing sales going on this week that I just have to write about them.
I do have wonderful bit of music news for you that I know you’ll enjoy. SASHA (Alexander Coe) singly and collaborating with Digweed blew up the English club scene in the 90’s, which spurred the growth of the scene in America. He’s one of the world’s foremost DJ’s, remixer and producer. He has reconstructed tracks by Madonna, Seal, The Pet Shop Boys, The Chemical Brothers and more. His newest CD Involver (Global Underground), debuted as #1 Top Electronic Albums, #9 Top Heatseekers, #14 Top Independent Albums and #200 on the Billboard 200 – all Billboard charts on the dame day, June 22, 2004,
His music will move you, hypnotize you, make you see colors and blow your mind away. Starting This Friday, December 3rd and the every first Friday of the month after that (Jan/7 – Opening party, 2/4, 3/4 4/1, 5/6 and 6/3 – closing party) SASHA will be playing at Crobar. Not only will he be DJ’ing, but he’ll be remixing LIVE. This is unheard of! He’s got brand new technology that will enable SASHA to remix anything his heart desires, while you’re sweating on the dance floor.
Crobar is a 3000 plus super club (it looks like a movie set) in Chelsea that will be pulsating with his sounds and wizardry, keeping you toasty warm all winter long. If you like Indie Pop – enjoy Air, Belle & Sebastian and melodic moodiness, you’ll enjoy Phoenix and Inouk at the Bowery Ballroom. Phoenix’s “Too Young” was featured on the soundtrack of Lost in Translation, and they sample Dr. Dre in some of their songs. Inouk combines elements of psychedelic (think Pink Floyd) with the electro crunch of garage. The show starts at 7 PM. Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey Street, 212-533-2111. Tickets are only $8.00
Josh Homme (of Queens of the Stone Age) and buddy Jesse Hughes have a sometime project known as Eagles of Death Metal. North Six is located at 66 North 6th Street, Williamsburg, 718-599-5103. This Staten Island based Indie band has got the critics grooving. They’ve gotten raves from Lemonade Magazine, “There are times when an unknown band takes that leap of faith, moving toward their natural evolution, and emerges on the verge of prominence. Seymour Glass epitomizes just such a movement.”
The Pulse Weekly, (Allentown, PA), says…”Seymour Glass is a band worth checking out.” Look, I’ve got at least two pages of raves about these guys. Instead of reading about them, do yourself a favor and check them out live Saturday Night, December 4th, at LIT, 93 Second Ave (between 5th & 6th Streets) 212-777-7987.
