As we’ve noticed thus far, beauty at fashion week was all about focusing on one thing. Whether it be the “textured” bold lips we saw at Charlotte Ronson, the “controlled chaos” hairstyle we saw at Thuy or the over the top eyes we saw at Marc Jacobs.
Speaking of those bold eyes, Fashion Week lent itself to some pretty bold peepers. At Tory Burch, Catherine Holstein and Badgley Mischka we saw an easy-to-recreate-for-a-night-out-smokey-eye. At Chris Benz, Makeup Artist Daniel Martin for Lancome went for a “morning after the disco” look, something that the girls created themselves, slept it and is now smudged and not so perfect (if only this idea really worked!) The eyes are layered with Indigo Charm Cream Liner, available in Fall 2009 as part of Lancome’s Declaring Indigo Collection, blended Color Design Eye shadow in The New Black and finished with the ever popular Piha Black Color Fever Gloss.
There were also a few who made the eyes pop with bright colors rather than the standard dark smokey eye. At Tibi, Makky for MAC used MAC’s new turquoise shade for fall, blended with true blue MAC Eye Shadow in Electric Eel on the top lid and squared off at the ends, with a cobalt blue shade beneath the lower lash lines. At Lela Rose, Beauty.com Celebrity Makeup Artist Tina Turnbow created the tropical rainforest look by using the new Precious Pearl Palette from Stila focusing on the gold and emerald green shades, Cha Cha and Mystic. Vena Cava threw us off a bit with a bright orange eye using Vincent Longo Silky Orange Liquid Shadow. Vincent Longo said “To contrast the dark and muted hues in Vena Cava’s fall collection, I’m doing a really bright eye. For a burst of excitement, I’m applying a thick orange eye liner.”
So whether you’re heading to the disco and want to keep your look dark and sultry or looking to brighten up the dull hues of fall, the eyes of Fall 2009 have got you covered.
