Trina Turk takes us on a road trip to California with her spring 2014 Collection. Throughout her collections you find bright colors, bold prints and matching tops and bottoms. She wants her clients to feel comfortable while looking chic and effortless. Sarah Lucero, Lead Makeup Artist for Stila Cosmetics wanted to embrace Trina Turk’s vision and capture the casual glamour of a California road trip.
Sarah started by prepping the skin with Stila HD BB Cream Illuminating. HD BB Cream helps hydrate the skin, even out complexion and helps reduce the appearance of pores and fine lines. After prepping the skin she then applied Stila Stay All Day Foundation, leaving the skin looking matte and lightweight. It also comes with its own matching concealer. Stila saves you from all that hassle in finding the right concealer. To achieve that sun-kissed glow, Sarah applied Stila Custom Color Blush– Self Adjusting Bronzer, on the forehead and outer corner of the eyes to the earlobes. This is a one-shade-fits-all bronzer. It conveniently adapts to each individuals pH, enhancing your inner beach beauty. To give your skin even more of a dewy finish, Sarah suggests using Stila All over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer in Kitten around your orbital bone.
Since we are on our California road trip, Sarah wanted to make it easy and applied one of my favorite products by Stila, Convertible Color Lip & Cheek in Gerbera, on the eyes, cheeks and lips. This soft, cream coral complements anyone’s complexion. For a sneak peek, they used a little scoop of Gerbera II mixed in with Gerbera. Gerbera II will be coming out in spring 2014 and is a deeper, brighter version of the original. This will be a great product to use from day to night. To finish the look, use Stila Glamoureyes Mascara and Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Color. The main focus was the skin, giving the appearance of healthy looking complexion with a sun-kissed glow.
Martin Christopher-Harper was the lead hairstylist for the show. He wanted to replicate Trina’s vision with an effortless look. The team created a refined beachy wave without the overuse of products for an easy wear-now look. For medium to fine hair you can achieve the look with Redken Rootful #6 Root Lifting Spray, applying from root to ends, on dry hair. For medium to thick hair use Redken Full Frame #7 from root to ends on damp hair. Both these products give the hair volume, texture and shine that will last all day and night. Martin then took medium size strands of hair and lightly wrapped the pieces around a 1” to 1 1/4” ceramic curling iron, slightly giving the hair a bend but not a curl. To finish the look he sprayed Redken Fashion Work. I personally use this product every day and love how it holds my hair and gives the appearance of added texture.
The effortless Cali girl look was made complete with Julep nail polish. Julep nails wanted to play off of Trina’s bold prints and bright colors. On the model’s fingers they went with a bold white polish called Bethany to enhance the vibrant colors seen throughout Trina Turk’s collection. For an extra dose of glamour nail art was added to the toes, applying a peach polish as the base called Hayden and a red stripe in Eileen for a the perfect bold accent.
