Best of Fall Fashion: Sneak Peek

With the sunny days of summer drawing to a close and autumn fast approaching, I couldn’t be more excited for my fall wardrobe this year. I’ll be the first to admit I get restless and ready for seasons to change, and right now, cuddling up in an oversize cashmere sweater and admiring the changing colors of the leaves is sounding very appealing. As much as I love summer, there’s nothing like the excitement of fall; it always seems so much more like a “New Year” than January 1st ever does. So, on that note, I’ve compiled a list of the best that fall fashion has to offer this season.

This year, it is completely okay to wear winter whites past Labor Day. Throw caution to the wind and get yourself something bold in a shade of white to contrast with the usual darks of fall. My pick is this boxy and structured off-white blazer from Theory, called the Bastian Pax Blazer, $425, It’s a great piece to throw on over any dress or jeans, adding a sophisticated and chic edge., Bastian Pax Blazer, $425

Another trend you can’t miss this fall is leather everywhere. You can find it in everything this year, from jackets and tees to pants, shoes, and bags. But let’s not stop there; there were also leather dresses, hats, skirts, and leggings. Leather dominated the runways for Fall 2012 Fashion Week in the spring, and a couple of my favorites include this leather combo mini from O’2ND, $425, and this belted leather bomber from Madewell for $495. It’s always good to push your boundaries in fashion; that’s how the most innovative and iconic looks come to life. Leather was big on the runway, but it wasn’t all alone up there. Check out these cozy turtlenecks that made a comeback at Chloe and (a budget friendly option) Zara. And don’t miss the tons of fur that will keep you warm this winter. It’s amazing how the styles of fur are so varied these days-there’s something for everyone.

Chloe Chunky Turtleneck Sweater, $1495, Zara Cable Knit Sweater, $79.90,

Vince Shearling Drape Vest, $1550,

It will be hard to go wrong this season if you stock your wardrobe with a few of these modern staples. Winter whites will be beautiful against the backdrop of the grays of New York, and having a couple leather pieces in your closet will last you years. Be practical this season and keep your neck warm with some of the thick and cozy turtlenecks available this year, not to mention the tons of options of wearing fur this fall/winter.
