Holding onto the Last Warm Days with a Death Grip: Early fall Street Style

Photographs by Alyssa Greenberg

Street style is a huge part of our current culture because it’s one of the easiest ways to express ourselves. Without office or class wardrobe restrictions the streets are safe (from excessive judgment, please still carry pepper spray at night) and free of consequence (besides those pesky public nudity laws.) The following NYC street style looks are a celebration of that mentality, and we encourage you to rock your look without reservation.

Here we have Leandra Medine otherwise known as the infamous Man Repeller. She’s taken a fairly preppy look to the next level with a green and blue print that pops with a pleated, high-waisted skirt, tousled hair and her signature arm party. What I really wish we could see is her wedding ring; I would love to check out the newlywed’s rock. Mazel tov Leandra and many happy returns.

To create this effortless of-the-moment look, this fashion maven has blended together multiple statement pieces without going overboard. This is accomplished through an oversized bag with cuffed boyfriend jeans, a chic fitted blazer and some truly bling jewelry. Although the necklace does look a bit heavy, its rock star status makes it worth its weight in gold.

On the streets of the West Village we have a trio of girls coming back from the requisite Sunday brunch. Starting on the left we have a striking dress from the Alexandra Taylor fall collection cinched in with a red leather belt for a pop of color. In the middle, classic looks are combined to create on-trend styling that is also timeless thanks to denim on denim and a little Ray-Ban aviator action. On the far right we have a coral-printed jumpsuit because life’s a beach when you’re a few Bloody Marys in.

Hope everyone enjoyed the warm weather while it lasted and let’s make the best of fall layering.
