I love being five feet tall, but also enjoy adding a few extra inches to my profile. I’ve found my go-to sneaker from SeaVees’ La Brea Lug High Top Platform. This brand was founded in 1964 and then re-founded in 2008, after the current founder found the original shoes at a thrift shop in Tokyo. Since then the brand has found its way back to California shores and I’ve had the pleasure of wearing their La Brea Lug High Top Platform. These sneakers are a modern take on the ’60s platform shoe, this high top takes me from from class to theater to hopping on the train to visit friends. Its soft (recycled) cotton material hugs my feet without overheating as I head for my morning runs featuring the natural rubber that adds a bounce to my step. The insole is cushioned with a memory foam footbed, so no blisters or pain from breaking in these sneakers. The most ingenious part: the vintage pull up tabs that allow for a grab-and-go, even during my busiest mornings.
SeaVees is dedicated to protecting the Earth with their 1% for the Planet status and support of Sea Trees, an organization dedicated to protecting sea kelp. SeaVees is here to stay in my everyday wardrobe this school year and into the summer. The La Brea Lug High Top Platform: perfect for the shortie who wants a cool classic sneak.
