Runway 7 NYFW Spring/Summer 2023 Showcase Catch-Up | Saturday Part 2

This September hybrid fashion production house and fashion show producer, Runway 7 gave us a thrilling 3-day event running parallel to New York Fashion Week, filled with top designers both iconic and indie. Viewers were shown a preview into the Spring/Summer looks for 2023, premiered collections and the latest designs from some beautifully creative minds. Here we’ll give you a quick glance in case you missed the festivities.

Missed Friday and Saturday Part 1?

Saturday Part 1 with Project Runway Darren Apolonio and True Tone Swim

I love me some chaos. But maybe things were a little too chaotic – viewers sneaking pictures on the runway after the MC announced them to not do that, photographers constantly having to tell show goers to lower their cellphones to not interrupt with press, an indoor leakage ( that yours truly was personally the one to find and alert staff existed) that turned the press and part of the VIP section temporarily into a rain-forest, not to mention the two-hour delays for every show that made me wonder “will I ever make it to Bartschland…alive?” as I ate my last of 5 protein bars for sustenance ( I was not giving up my spot for anyone ). I thought – time to take a deep breath. Because it all was very much worth it in the end, getting to view the beautiful, the breathtaking and the bizarre on the stage and reaching the heavens finale of club-kid high-priestess Susan Bartsch. Here’s all the shows leading to our Saturday headline designer.

Ready for some evening mischievous fun? Let’s go!

Ydamys Simo started us off with a vibrant dance performance and transitioned seamlessly into runway. The latest collection was much geared towards young adult and children’s resort-wear fashion featuring tropical florals, satin tops and easy breezy side-tie bottoms. Later she gave us some wedding resort wear as well for those perfect destination weddings by the beach with a sunset in the background most likely. I did think maybe the collection would have been better suited with the other swimwear resort designers but it was an energetic start for the evening session.

Greenwrld

Sustainable brand Greenwrld provided us with super comfy looking wearables with models bringing lots of energy and pizazz to the floor. Not only was it easy on the conscious, the patchwork apparel was easy on the eyes as well. The collection featured baggy sweatpants, hoodies and skirts of assorted patterns. Maybe it was just me, but all of the models seemed very happy in the comfortable attire and it was infectious to the crowd..

Caerols

The latest Caerols collection was classic editorial in font, performance and appearance. Evening wear that would flatter any body graced the stage. Additions of shimmering detailing, selective sleeving, and accentuating ruffles were tastefully applied. All these pieces were perfect for cocktail parties, galas and office parties.

Merlin Castell

Words can barely describe the absolute meow and wow of the amazing House of Castell. My heart was gifted extra beats at the entry of each piece. Yellows, blacks, and royal blue dominated the field upon what felt like a dystopian world of the elite versus the beast (though the beastie represented as a bat was rather cute). Big ruffled dresses (give me all the petticoats), bat themed hoods and the royal Merlin himself gave me all the energy I needed to make it through the rest of the night. A true cat walked the stage and we are all better people for having witnessed it.

Luxury mission-driven, mental health awareness, menswear fashion brand Inherent showcased their latest collection Saturday evening. The collection featured layered pieces in muted color tones. Turtlenecks, peacoats, hoodies and beautifully tailored suits upon beautifully tailored bodies, Inherent’s showcase was consistent in its execution of the classic touch. Everyone take notes, as the elements here appear timeless for a reason.

Just BE 72

Female empowerment brand Just BE 72 started their session with a vibrant dance performance before launching into their latest collection. The category seemed to be evening wear with the color restriction of black and white (with the occasional pop of color seen in accessories or shoes). The exploration from cocktail to maternity displayed our two polarizing colors in an assortment of materials such as tulle, polka dot mesh and even feathers.

Punk Majesty

The showcase for eco-conscious, punk-rock apparel brand Punk Majesty by designer Alisha Amnesia was like a love letter to the old heart of New York. The collection featured studded leather jackets, thin chains applied as delicate as lace, and phrases of rebellion and self-empowerment running along the bodies of sleeved shirts and blazers. Punk Majesty was clear in its etiquette for punk royalty while displaying its own chorus of power, action, and passion.

Renacio

Before one can enter Bartschland, first you must open your imagination to the possibilities that lie in the dark, the strange, and the whimsical. Like a lullaby that brings you into another world, surrealist artist and designer Renacio brought us a dark, thoughtful fairytale. And within each fairytale were the characters that mirror each other to give us a complete picture of a whole heart. The beautiful, the timeless, the mystery of it all is here, if only we can be brave enough to grasp it.
