Timo Weiland and his co-designers Alan Eckstein and Donna Kang took a trip to Indonesia via the CFDA program, taking in the local surf culture and ease of dressing. The collection was effortless, infused with a downtown New York vibe for the always-in-the-know expat.
“There’s a large, large surf culture there, so we hung out, did beach stuff, and really enjoyed the culture there, the people that live there, so that started it,” explained the designers. Rooted in New York street culture with a mix of surf culture, the collection was filled with easy transitional pieces with their signature cool girl style. “It’s basically people from New York in Indonesia. And then we went to surf culture; that’s why the pieces look a little bit more easy and comfortable.”
The Hair: Joseph Dimaggio mixed Bali beach with the NYC streets using L’Oreal Professionnel Volumetry Root Spray with the True Grip Texturizing Powder. The hairstylist then twisted the model’s tresses into a tight ponytail before heating the hair with the One Legacy flatiron to set the texture. Once set, DiMaggio loosened the look with his fingers before mattifying the locks in the back with the brand’s Fresh Dust.
The Makeup: MAC’s Romero Jennings desired a “bed-to-runway look” and achieved the effortless glow by applying the brand’s Prep + Prime Skin before the application of foundation. A bit of Posey Creamblend Blush was applied on the apple and the Coffee Walnut Sculpting Cream under the cheekbone. He then applied Virgin Isle Cream Color Base mixed with Red Paint Stick around the top and bottom lashes lines to make the white of the eyes pop with a little mascara at the roots for a finishing touch. He used #14 of the upcoming Spring Trend Forecast lip palette into the center of the lip for a easy natural look.
