The debut of Gaucho – Buenos Aires for their Fall / Winter 2022 collection at Runway 7 at Sony Hall was a joyful, flamboyant, leather-filled presentation, including drumming, dancing, and lasso-swinging. Noted for its ultra-luxurious leather goods and timeless, handcrafted pieces, the Gaucho – Buenos Aires presentation featured 25 looks from their women’s ready-to-wear, men’s ready-to-wear, accessories, and line of signature leather handbags.
The Fall / Winter 2022 collection was inspired by the modern bohemian and the ways in which Argentina interacts with the world, playing with influences that span history, culture, design, and place. The strength, integrity, and resilience of this storied culture is woven into each piece this brand creates, forging a modern glamour that’s still rooted in timeless tradition.
The new Director of Design, Lautaro García de la Peña, is a broad-based, multi-hyphenate who counts electronic music producer, model, architect, and jewelry designer among his many talents. Gaucho – Buenos Aires will be opening its first brick and mortar location in the Design District of Miami in April 2022. Lautaro Garcia de la Peña says “I believe that good design is the art of mixing little things to create a nuanced whole.”
The brand’s pledge is to produce with only the highest quality of products in small-batch production quantities, while honoring the heritage of craftsmanship. This collection includes the luxurious leathers for which Gaucho – Buenos Aires is known, pure silks, plush suedes, and cozy knit blends in rich cognac and deep chocolate browns, sky and navy blues, creamy white, fiery reds, and timeless black, all of which are sustainable, natural, organic, or recycled fibers.
Highlights of the collection are the women’s Felicitas Suede Biker Jacket ($695) and Antonia Fringe Skirt ($595), cut from lush cognac brown suede and the signature men’s Quilted Saturino Bomber Jacket ($695), crafted in the finest leather for a modern fit. Their evergreen Lucky Bag, which sells out every season, is available in signature embossed black leather ($795) and cognac and baby blue leather iterations ($695) this season, and their Quintana hat ($185) will be available in blue, black, sand, and brown. Also, sure to be a hit on and off the runway this season are the elegant silk scarves ($265 – $295) that Gaucho – Buenos Aires is known for; this season, their hand-finished scarves will feature beautiful cityscapes, artistic foulard and rural imagery and iconic stallions.
Gaucho – Buenos Aires’ parent company is Gaucho Group Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:VINO), a company that holds a collection of experiential luxury assets including luxury vineyard real estate, fine wines, luxury boutique hotels and a growing number of e-commerce platforms with a concentration on fine wines, luxury real estate, leather goods, ready-to-wear fashion, accessories, and home décor. The Gaucho – Buenos Aires brand launched in 2018.
