I have known Andrew Henry for six years now. We met while working for TDF (Theatre Development Fund) and their online theatre magazine, and we have been friends ever since. He has definitely earned the title of “most consistently fashionable friend.” So it wasn’t surprising to find out he was launching his own clothing and lifestyle brand, Andrews Room NY. I immediately reached out for a Q&A so BeautyNewsNYC could get the scoop on his upcoming launch.
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
If you guessed my name was Andrew, you’re right! I’m a Brooklyn born and raised native, and the founder of Andrews Room NY. I love being creative and finding new ways to execute the ideas I envision into reality.

Andrews Room NY is a #BlackOwned clothing and lifestyle brand dedicated to creating unisex clothing for style and comfort.
What made you get into fashion? Who are your biggest inspirations in that area?
I’ve always been into fashion and known I wanted to start my own brand, it was just a question of when. During the peak of the pandemic and summer of 2020, I thought to myself, “if not now, then when?” I feel like I can speak for a lot of people when I say the pandemic has taught us that there’s no better time to take risks than now.
As it pertains to my inspirations in fashion, I’m inspired by a combination of both streetwear culture and designer/high-fashion garments. I can find inspiration from a childhood memory or photo, to a Paris fashion week runway show, to a person walking down the street in New York. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I find my inspiration through moments and experiences rather than a particular person.
What do you wish you knew about fashion when you were younger, that you know now?
The importance of executing all of your ideas whether big or small, and that it’s okay to take risks, because in retrospect, you learn from them. If you don’t give your ideas a pulse, you’ll be stuck thinking about what could’ve been instead of living in reality and making space for a new project.
What are some products from Andrews Room NY you’d like to highlight?
