PeachFuzz Laser Studio Treats Hair Removal as a Mental Health Journey

It is not easy to find laser hair removal that you can trust, no matter what the color of your skin. For women of color, it can be particularly difficult, and that is where PeachFuzz Laser Studio Founder, Keisha Wagner-Gaymon saw a need. Her laser studio caters to people of all colors, with a special expertise in treating the often more difficult hair removal issues for some people of color. These issues go deeper than the skin and can affect one’s mental health and wellness, making the hair removal journey a labor of love for Wagner-Gaymon.

Located in Brooklyn, New York, PeachFuzz Laser Studio, which opened just two years ago, has a loyal clientele, many of whom are women of color, that will travel from all over to receive an expert laser treatment. “There is a trust factor. They want to trust who they are going to. Someone who understands their needs,” said Wagner-Gaymon. She is one of those who understands all too well from her own struggles with polycystic ovary syndrome, “PCOS,” that caused excessive hair growth, and led to years of unsuccessful tweezing, waxing, shaving and electrolysis.

Wagner-Gaymon knows that laser hair removal is not just about the hair. “It’s a mental health issue too. Women put on tons of makeup. They are embarrassed. They don’t want to date, so we care all about those things,” Wagner-Gaymon said. “This is not just a cosmetic issue. This is self-care. I am a Nurse Practitioner, so I know it’s a medical issue.”

Her experience made Wagner-Gaymon passionate about hair removal and was the catalyst for her to discover the best laser to treat her clients, the ND: YAG Laser. “This is the Mercedes Benz of lasers. We have the best quality equipment,” said Wagner-Gaymon. By using top quality equipment, PeachFuzz Laser Studio ensures its clients can achieve the best results possible, especially when treating hair growth resulting from PCOS, razor bumps and other hormonal disorders. Wagner-Gaymon and her clients have seen life changing results with consistent laser treatments.

When you have a laser treatment Wagner-Gaymon makes you feel at ease and prepares you for what the experience will feel like. Having your legs done is a less sensitive area but it was good to be aware the laser would feel like a rubber band snapping. “This particular laser has a cooling device, so you feel a cool blast of air,” Wagner-Gaymon added. Although she recommends two or three treatments for the legs, they felt smooth after only one treatment.

To maintain your laser care, Wagner-Gaymon has developed FuzzClinic skincare products to exfoliate and soothe your skin before and after laser treatment. Some of the products launched this summer and more are in the works. There is an Ingrown Hair Serum, Silky Botanical Shave Oil, Post Laser Aloe and Arnica Relief Gel and Brightening Sunscreen with Niacinamide, an important part of post-laser care. One of my personal favorite products is the Shimmer Oil with vanilla and peach scents to show off your smooth skin. Look for more products to launch soon.
