The Golden Secrets Q&A: Holistic, Cruelty-Free Skincare

Founded by former model, devoted mother, Hatha yoga teacher, and author Jesse Golden, her The Golden Secrets skincare line began with Golden’s dissatisfaction with the skincare market, combined with a large number of people asking her to share her “golden secrets.” From then on, Golden made it her mission to guarantee that every product in The Golden Secrets line was produced from only the finest plant botanicals, with cold-pressed, unrefined oils, and the highest quality essential oils.

Leaping Bunny Certified, this serious ecological brand only contains ingredients that are 100% natural, non-toxic, non-GMO, organic, plant-derived, sustainably sourced, cruelty-free, free of parabens, phthalates, propylene or butylene glycols, petroleum, sulfates, PEGs, TEA, DEA, silicones, pesticides, artificial dyes, fragrances, carcinogens and all synthetics. That is quite a handful! I recently had the wonderful opportunity to ask Golden a couple of questions about her fabulous line.

Do you have any favorite products from The Golden Secrets that you would recommend?
This is like asking someone which is your favorite child, ha ha. They are all my favorites, but if I had to choose three, I would say Youth Beauty Face Oil, Heal All Oil, and Aura Beauty Mist. The Youth Beauty Face Oil contains 10 organic plant botanicals that rapidly adapt to your skin, instantly leaving it glowing and radiant. It is formulated with natural retinoic acid, so it gives you the same anti-aging benefits of a chemical, synthetic retinoid without the negative, toxic side effects. This is our bestseller and is used by some of the biggest makeup artists and celebrities in the world. I always say: if I were on a deserted island and could only bring one product with me, it would be the Heal All Oil, as it addresses over a dozen different skin conditions and can be used in a multitude of ways—from cleansing to moisturizing, to hair growth, cuts, burns, acne and aches and pains. It truly is a multitasker and solves just about every problem. I recommend every household have one on hand. Lastly, the Aura Beauty Mist is a divine aromatic beauty mist that strengthens the skin barrier, brightens, plumps, and is proven to lock in moisture 5x greater than hyaluronic acid while increasing penetration and efficacy of our facial oils. Unlike most facial mists out there, it is truly non-toxic, alcohol, and fragrance-free.
Any beauty tips you swear by?
Less is more, and consistency is key. Stick with clean, non-toxic, organic products that work with your skin and body, not against it, and be mindful of your thoughts when you apply your skincare. Be kind to yourself and focus on your rare beauty.
Anything in particular you would like our readers to know about your brand?
I think something people are surprised to learn about my brand is that the products came first. I started making products for myself over 25 years ago, in high school, and only after years of people asking me what my “golden secret” was, did I finally decide to share. Once I realized the profound impact that these products had in my life, not only in the formulation and results, but in being the very tool to help me practice daily rituals of self-love each day. I knew I had to share it with the world and help others realize that when they align with their selves and nature, they can be radiant, no matter their age. I am so honored and excited to be able to share these magical products with the world and am most proud of our philanthropy work: we plant a tree for every product sold and give back a percent to the Farmer’s Footprint all year round to help regenerate our soil.
