New York Fashion Week 2015 Hair Trends: A runway round up of the best hair looks

“Anything goes” seemed to be the hair motto of this New York Fashion Week, as we saw everything from super straight, sleek hair to more of a fun, textured look. Although the tents have come down, you won’t have to wait until spring/summer 2016 to get the looks.

Check out some of our favorite NYFW styles.

Rachel Comey
Lead Hair Stylist: James Pecis for using PHYTO
Inspiration: Desert, Post-Apocalyptic Warrior
How to get the look:
• Prep the hair with Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray and rough dry it in. The goal is to get added volume and texture into the hair
• Roughly go through the hair section by section, adding in the Phyto Professional Matte Texturizing Paste. This will give the hair the tackiness to hold the look together.
• Divide the hair into five sections: one at the top, one on each side and two in the back.
• Within each of these sections, pull the hair back and tie the hair into square knots. The result will look like a knot-braid, which will be secured with an elastic hair band at the end.
• Finish by misting Phytolaque Soie Hairspray to keep in place.

Tadashi Shoji
Lead Hair Stylist: Rodney Cutler for Cutler/Redken Salons
Inspiration: A youthful, feminine style that looked as smooth as the satin on the gowns
How to get the look:
• Prep damp hair using a light mist of Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer. For dry or frizzy hair, apply Redken Frizz Dismiss FPF 20 Smooth Force Spray throughout the roots and shaft, instead.
• Next, apply Redken Full Frame 07 Protective Volumize Mousse (or Redken Guts 10 Spray Foam if you have fine or flat hair) to the root area, and Redken Satinwear 02 Blow Dry Lotion from mid to ends of hair.
• Create a clean center part using the tip of a comb, and extending back.
• Blow dry the hair using a flat boar bristle brush, creating volume at the root and straight ends.
Spray Fashion Work 12 Versatile Spray lightly on top of the head, and smooth any fly always. If need be, smooth over with a flat iron after finished blow drying.

Nicholas K
Lead Hair Stylist: Giannandrea for Macadamia Professional
Inspiration: A modern twist on the classic Asian top knot
How to get the look:
• Slightly damp hair with water and create a center part all the way to the highest point of the head. Evenly distribute Macadamia Professional Foaming Volumizer from the roots to the ends.
• Section hair from top of head to ears, combing down from the part. Take back, large sections and blow dry using a diffuser and the Macadamia Professional Boar Bristle Paddle Brush.
• For heat protection and added shine, apply Macadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Oil Spray onto dried hair. Run a flatiron through all sections to straighten hair.
• Gather all hair at the nape of the neck using the paddle brush and create a tight, low ponytail. Secure the ponytail in place with an elastic and reinforce with pins.
• Then, secure the weft of extensions onto the elastic.
• Take a small section of the weft to hold aside.
• With remaining hair in the pony, create a loose loop and secure with another elastic.
• Wrap the small section of loose hair around the elastic, securing it with a pin and spray the Macadamia Professional Style Lock Strong Hold Hairspray for lasting placement.

Lead Hair Stylist: Bob Recine for using PHYTO
Inspiration: Fresh out-of-the-shower feeling
How to get the look:
• Spray water onto dry hair to make it damp.
• Quickly comb through the hair.
• Use PHYTO Professional Intense Volume Mousse and comb through the hair.
• Use a wide tooth comb to pull the hair back and mix PHYTO Professional Intense Volume Mousse with PHYTO Professional Wet Gel to hold the front line of the hair.
• Clip 3 tissues to the left, right and middle part of the hair. This is used to keep the hair in place.
• Take two pieces underneath from each side and pull them up and around the back part of the hair. Place an elastic where the two pieces meet.
• Remove the tissues and the clips
• Spray PHYTO Phytolaque Soie Light Hold Hairspray and then PHYTO Phytoplage Protective Sun Oil to complete the ultimate wet look.
