City Fit for Spring


As the sweet smell of spring approaches, it’s hard to resist the desire to skip the gym for a breath of fresh air in Central Park or along the Hudson. While you might have to wait a little bit longer for the perfect workout weather, now is the time to start thinking about how to get the most out of the great outdoors.


Go for a jog, or drop and give us 20

We asked experts Debra Strougo, founder of, and Eric Von Frohlich, founder of RoadFit, one of NY’s most fun outdoor program groups (touted as being “where big kids come to play”), to develop a quick 20-minute Outdoor Workout to get even the busiest city gals out of hibernation and ready for sundress season.

20-Minute Outdoor Workout for the busy and the sexy Beauty News Woman:

3 loops (jogging or speed walking) around the boat pond in Central Park
20 step ups on the Alice and Wonderland benches
5 SETS: Climb the Bethesda Fountain stairs
2 SETS: 10 squat thrusts followed by 20 tricep dips on the edge of the fountain (repeat)

Work those Abs

Look to NYC Adventure Boot Camp for Women if you are searching for an inspiring female-only atmosphere. Owners Laura Miranda and Stacy Papists, start boot camp on Memorial Day in Central Park and Battery Park. You’ll experience an hour long exercise experience that changes from minute to minute for four entire weeks. Here’s a sample of just one of the many varieties of workout sessions they offer: a five-minute jog, yoga and stretching, a friendly heart-pumping game of freeze tag and weight lifting, followed by an obstacle course. Freeze tag to replace your treadmill? Definitely a Do!
