Finally…it’s summer time! Temperatures are rising and we tend to crave lighter meals to help us stay cool. While I don’t recommend to regularly swap out meals for smoothies, done right, it’s ok every once in a while, when you’re on the run. They also make for a nice snack or refreshing healthy ice cream alternative.
Over the next couple weeks, I’ll share some of my delicious smoothie recipes and some great tips to help you step up your smoothie game.
FEATURED TODAY: MANGO GINGER SMOOTHIE
Ingredients for 2 servings:
2 cups frozen mango pieces
1 cup plain yogurt
1-2 Tbsp honey or organic maple syrup (optional)
1 cup of cold water or coconut water
1 1/2 teaspoons peeled grated fresh ginger (or 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder)
Extra Mango pieces for garnish (optional)
Place all ingredients in a blender; process until smooth.
Pour into a beautiful glass, garnish with mango slices, and sit down in your favorite chair (maybe on a rooftop terrace) and enjoy!
Most smoothie recipes call for ice cubes to create that frozen texture. Instead, try freezing your fruit or buy already frozen fruit at the store.
That way, you can enjoy your smoothie from the first to the last sip, without watering it down.
Always taste your smoothie before adding any sweetener. Most of the time the fruit is sweet enough and you don’t need to add any extra sweetener. If you need an extra dose, try adding a natural sweetener like honey, maple syrup or raisins.
And, please, consider using reusable straws or just drink straight from the glass.
We would love to hear from you.
