Fall Back Into Fashion

When the heat goes buh-bye, it’s time to drag your makeup bag out and go for richer, deeper colors and play with more products than you do in the dog days of summer. Thankfully, there’s a motherload of new launches by all the major cosmetic companies, most of which are inspired by Fall fashions for 2009.

Without further adieu, we present out Fall Beauty Preview and Guide.

Collection: Sensuous Gold, a feminine collection drenched in rose gold shades, inspired by the flowing, fluid fabrics of this season’s fashions, as well as “right now” fabrics like organza and jersey. The collection is soft and pretty, like a loose, frilly, early Fall frock.

Recommended For: Park and Fifth Avenue dwellers

Necessary Indulgence: Anyone can wear gold. Only a true lady can pull off rose gold. Estee’s incredibly pretty Sensuous Gold range offers a richer, deeper and softer palette of colors with such gorgeous casing that you’ll want to pull out your compact and touch up your lipstick at the dinner table, etiquette be damned. The luxuriously weightless Signature 5-Tone Shimmer Powder for Eyes, Cheeks and Face weaves five sheer, iridescent shades in a single compact for customizable colors. Available in the cool Pink and warm Bronze, the silky formula is designed for all tones and for use beyond the face, extending to the décolletage and shoulders. The Rose Gold and Rose Amethyst eye shadow quads have multi-dimensional pearl texture, which will allow for a crystallized effect, as you blend and build colors. The eyes will definitely have it with these palettes.

Collection: Declaring Indigo, which was fashioned by artistic director Aaron De Mey, celebrates Paris in all its fashionable glory. Vibrant hues, like indigo blue, gold and bright red, draped the catwalks for Fall 2009 and De Mey captured the city and its vitality in this series of metropolitan products.

Recommended For: Fashion-forward clotheshorses.

Necessary Indulgence: The Ink Art Eyeliner is absolutely stunning, since bold eye liner -and we’re not talking Amy Winehouse but Angelina Jolie here- ruled many a runway at Fashion Week earlier this year. Lancome has created a limited edition brush and bag set, so application of his fab-u-lous liner is key for calligraphy-like, cat-eye lines. The LaRose Liberte shimmer compact is almost too pretty to use, thanks to the flower-stamped design. Dust this bold ‘n gold product onto your décolletage, forehead, tip of your nose and apples of your cheeks for a kissed-by-the-sun glow. Baby pink lips were everywhere, too, and Lancome dictates this trend with the Pure Rose Nectar edition of its best-selling Juicy Tubes gloss.

Collection: Greige is a nature driven collection that employs subtle tones to enhance smoked eyes, luminous skin and muted lips. It’s a pairing of strong and soft, another trend that we saw on the runways. The eye shadows borrow from the mantra ray patterns and rich materials used by the Armani fashion house.

Recommended For: Fashionistas with exquisite, rather than trend-dictated, tastes.

Necessary Indulgence: The aforementioned shadow duos work harmoniously to great definition, depth and mystery through complimentary shading as opposed to piling on lots of one hue. You gotta go with No. 1, the charcoal and nature-inspired Greige shade, or if you’re more daring, No. 2 pairs ocean blue and green for an intense “wow” blast of color. The color matching is as lush as it is luxurious and focuses on the actual eye, specifically the pupil. The look is incomplete without the quick-drying, precious Liquid Silk Eye Liner, in charcoal grey and midnight blue – again, we saw this at Lancome- tones. It’s a precious and uncompromisingly sexy look, to be expected from Armani, of course.

Collection: Jazz Club has a two-fold purpose, one that serves every New Yorker that loves to look good. It is meant to seamlessly shift from a day to night look. Talk about a Holy Grail of a collection! Jazz Club is influenced by the flappers of the 1920s and 1930s, updated with modern shades and hues!

Recommended For: Chicly refined products for working women with an “after-hours” life.

Necessary Indulgence: Purples, greys and pinks are blazing hot shades when it comes to clothes this fall and these products reflect the trend. Smoky Jazz and Purple Jazz are two palettes that work as well together as they do solo for eyes that are smokier than a…… well, jazz club. This look will never, ever, go out of style, but leave it to Dior to update the trend with surprising pops of color.

Available: Dior counters at fine department stores like Bloomingdales nationwide.

Collection: MAC is the queen bee of limited editions, creating new products that are here today, gone tomorrow, much to the chagrin of MAC devotees. The company often soothes the wound of a discontinued product by bringing certain best-sellers back every so often. Love that Look is one such case, as it marks the return of Starflash Eye Shadow. These shadows offer the silkiest, most cushion-like, pearl-finished range of frosted shades. We probably don’t need to say this, but hurry! These products will be off counters by October 1st.

Recommended For: Pretty punks, princesses, rock stars and drag queens.

Necessary Indulgence: Gobble up the shadows, but don’t forget the Pearl Glide Eye Liner, which will complete and amp up your look with a glittery, extra-sexy edge.

Available: http://www.maccosmetics.com or MAC stores nationwide.

Collection: Christian Siriano for VS Makeup is as fierce and fabulous as the Project Runway winning designer himself, who is venturing into the beauty world with an affordable yet luxe collection for the lingerie retailer. Soft textures and bold colors, both of which are stables of Siriano’s design aesthetic when it comes to his clothes, define the products, which are contained in extra-luxurious, gold packaging. The designer said the collection is inspired by the warmth of the Egyptian desert and the crystal blue waters of the Nile, juxtaposing softness with strong shapes. He’s bringing sexy back with this stunning series.

Recommended For: Why, fierce women, of course!

Necessary Indulgence: Pairing the Silky Eye Shadow in Royalty, a matte, chocolatey brown, and Gilded Fierce, a shimmery, gold-flecked brown, results in the type of smoky eyes that are essential for fall. Risk-takers will want to experiment with Oasis, a turquoise shade. The sheer pink Sublime lip gloss will have you licking your lips, thanks to the subtle vanilla scent and light taste. This soft coral transitions gorgeously from late summer into early fall. Shine on! Grab the Kajal Eye Liner – which many companies are hawking this season, too! It’s a chubby, creamy crayon and the stay-put formula is perfect to line inner lids with.

Available: Victoria’s Secret stores nationwide or http://www.victoriasecret.com.

Collection: MultiGrain Makeup, which is fortified with oats, vitamins, natural minerals and clay pigments, may sound like something that should fill your cereal bowl, the product is primo for your skin and makes you look purty! It’s made from soy and has an SPF, too! The lightweight powder comes in a range of five shades, which makes it versatile for a range of complexions.

Recommended For: Earthy types.

Necessary Indulgence: The Brighter By Nature Skin Tone Correcting Serum is applicable before and after cleansing, day or night, to fix any imperfections your skin and aiding you in achieving that “flawless canvas” look to your skin.

Available: http://www.origins.com or Origins boutiques.

Collection: Pur’s mineral shadows will help you effortlessly create chrome-plated eyes, another trend that popped off the season’s runways.

Recommended For: Trendsetters and followers.

Necessary Indulgence: Try the slate-shaded Burgundy Malachite, the dusty purple Chrome Cryolite or the money green Midnight Jade for a colorful twist and to create the charcoal, gunmetal and ‘not just black and brown’ chrome-plated, smoked eye. The pressed mineral formula is dense with pigment, so apply several layers and buff them out for eyes that look like they came from a fashion editorial spread in W Magazine, all the while retaining a day or night practicality. The oh-so-delicate Pur Radiance powder blush is a precious pink, prrrfect for when you have a full face of makeup and desire the faintest veil of color on your cheeks so you don’t look overly made up.

Available: Ulta Locations or http://www.purminerals.com.

Collection: Lauren Luke for Sephora finds the British Luke, who became a YouTube sensation thanks to her makeup tutorials, having her gratis lessons rewarded with a makeup line exclusively for Sephora, and the fact that she’s been deemed the world’s most popular makeup artist.

Recommended For: Junkies and neophytes

Necessary Indulgence: Vintage Glams Palette, for glammed out eyes, flushed cheeks and sexy lips. They’re totable, trendy and easy to use.

Available: http://www.sephora.com or Sephora locations.
