Super Food of 2023: Mushroom Edition

Have you hopped on the mushroom train? If not you’ll be preaching the good word of the fungi after trying these mush-nificent products from Schedule35, Culture Shrooms, and Pan’s Jerky.

A cup of hot tea puts the mind at ease. It flows through the body, warming up the vital organs, and giving a sense of relief and peaceful bliss. Schedule35’s latest release features just that: delicious teas! Each has a distinct dose of mushrooms and comes in these featured flavors: Mango Dragonfruit (200mg), Floral Peaches (2g) and Strawberry Lemonade (7.5g) and all come with 10 ten bags.

I enjoyed the Mango Dragonfruit brew morning before a long day of reading, writing, and working. Its juicy and fruity flavor reminded me of visiting my family on the island as a little girl, where I would eat mangos and sugar cane all day. With my cup of Mango Dragonfruit by my side I sipped on the tea as I worked. After fifteen minutes I felt the uplifting effects and warmth flow through me. My creative juices were reeving up as I drafted, edited (twice) a poem I’ve been stuck on writing. Afterwards, I cooked a quick breakfast and went full steam on the eggs, bacon, and waffles. My energy levels felt incredible as I ate and continued on working.

Mango Dragonfruit helped me to have a productive day that I’ve been craving for the past few weeks. Later that afternoon I was going for a hike so I made a cup of the Strawberry Lemonade for an extra boost. I put it on ice with a touch of honey and biked over to the trail. As the sun beat down I sipped on my iced tea and enjoyed the experience. I noticed my body feeling more alive and in tune with all the nature around me. My breathing became cleaner, deeper as I worked off breakfast from earlier. After an hour of hiking I hung out in the grass and finished off my tea. This Strawberry Lemonade tea was such a refreshing treat to bring along while hiking.

The next day I tried Floral Peaches. As I poured the hot water into my cup, the tea bag released a gorgeous floral scent. I can imagine this being the official drink of spring. The plans for the day: journal and meditation. I wanted to keep up the relaxation from yesterday but at a slower pace. After consuming the tea, I rolled out my yoga mat and sat crisscrossed. Typically I get antsy after ten minutes but thanks to the tea, I found myself sitting on the mat for thirty minutes just focusing on my breath. I did a few stretches and reflected in my journal the insights I had. Thanks to Schedule35’s tasty teas, I’ve been able to make the most of my days in a way that feels healthy and satisfying to me. I’m excited to see what else they come out with in the near future, they’re a brand to watch.

Culture Shrooms

Iced Tea and Cold Brew

For mushrooms on ice I reach for my Culture Shrooms beverages. Their Cold Brew has made its way to my brunches with friends, as I pour it over ice with some almond milk mixed in. Beans sourced from Guatemala and Papua New Guinea it has benefits of Lion’s Mane, Cordyceps, and Turkey Tail mushrooms for ultimate clarity without the crash. My friends remark how smooth it tastes, thanks to the alkane water it’s brewed with. I’ve been enjoying this cold brew on warmer mornings when I need to check off everything from my to-do list.

On my days of seeing the world, I crack open an Iced Tea. I brought this little bottle along with me to my doctor’s appointment, sipping while filling out forms. The white tea base was relaxing and refreshing while I sat and read my book. (Mushroom tea and a book = perfect combo). My doctor commented on the drink, asking what was inside. I was able to explain the blend of Lion’s Mane, Cordyceps mushrooms, and kanna that helps focus my mind and keep my energy levels up. He was impressed as we continued the appointment, I think I’ve converted him to Culture Shrooms, after all!

Pan’s Mushroom Jerky 1oz Sampler Pack

For a midday or midnight snack: Pan’s Mushroom satisfies the craving. Forget candy, chips, or meat – this shiitake mushroom jerky hits all the notes. The six flavors offer something for every taste bud. Original has hints of sweet and uber umami flavors while Salt and Pepper give a kick while keeping it classy. My favorite so far has been Applewood BBQ that reminds me of a cook out down South with a smoky and sweet profile that can’t be beat. The consistency is like real jerky, the same pull apart quality, and my favorite part: the oiliness. It coats the tongue and lips, leaving a delicious aftertaste that’s divine. This sampler pack makes it easy to taste all the flavors of the shroom and keeps it convenient for snacking on-the-go. Perfect for any college student, busy worker, or mom who just wants to cut back on eating meat. Pan’s Mushroom Jerky is the snack for summer 2023.
