Sometimes you want to escape from New York City for a change of scenery. Even a short vacation goes a long way to refresh your mind and soul. I love to go to Philadelphia, since it is such a short trip by car, train, or bus. Staying at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel is my ultimate luxurious retreat. It is perfect for a low-key spa getaway or for sightseeing in the heart of the city.
The Loews Philadelphia has it all so you can stay on site for most of the time and venture out to some great restaurants nearby. The accommodations are superb and the décor by Meyer Davis is calming, with neutral shades and clean lines. The rooms are newly refreshed and the attention to detail is stellar, with a level of cleanliness that I always appreciate.
For those who want to relax, plan a spa treatment at the Joseph Anthony Retreat Spa and Salon. Take advantage of the Room for Romance Package, through December 31, offering a $50 food and beverage credit per night, two glasses of Prosecco, chocolate covered strawberries, a 20% discount in the spa, and late checkout based on availability. You may even want to have a service in the salon to get ready for dinner.
If you want to sightsee, it does not have to be exhausting, since the hotel is only steps away from many historic attractions, including the Liberty Bell. Working up an appetite is no problem, whether you choose to dine on site or at a nearby restaurant.
Dining is taken care of with a reservation at Bank & Bourbon within the Loews Philadelphia, with a menu to please any palate. Steak and seafood abound, and if there is room for dessert it does not disappoint. If you prefer to venture out, the hotel is in the heart of Philadelphia with choices galore. My favorite is The Capital Grille, which is close by with top notch service and food.
By the end of the weekend your spirit is renewed, and you are ready to face the week ahead. The best part for me is that getting home is so fast and does not undo my relaxed feeling. I am usually already planning my next escape during the trip home.
