Metro Man: What’s in His Bath this Fall?

I am constantly in search of the latest or most useful products to test and review, and then pass my findings on to our readers.

I realize that some men think grooming and anti-aging products are all hocus-pocus, but that’s really not true. Just look at the photos of our ancestors who worshiped the sun and washed their face with Boraxo — a gritty and slow dissolving compound of salt of boric acid. Its purpose is to clean hands after changing a motor on a truck or working on a farm. Our skin is not a hide.

Following are several of the newest products for men who know the importance hygiene and skincare.

After the global success of AXE Dark Temptation, with its subtle aroma of chocolate, AXE is forging ahead with AXE Gold Temptation. A little more news… Actor Michael B. Jordan, “Friday Night Lights” (above) teamed up with AXE Gold Temptation to launch the new product just a few weeks ago. And launch we did with a boat ride around the Hudson River, under the bridges and over to the Statue of Liberty while learning more about the product line. The actor will be getting behind the camera for the first time to create a short story video with AXE — the theme of course is temptation. The short will debut this month.

Another new product this month is from one of my go-to guys, Anthony. He created the High Performance Glycolic Peptide Serum. I know the word serum makes some men slam the medicine cabinet shut. But let’s take a closer look with an open mind. I tried the product. I like what I see. It will minimize the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles. Depending on my nightlife carousing and the amount of sleep I get, my brow and mug can resemble a Shar Pei. I’ve tried the serum for a week, got some rest and I like the difference. My tip is to apply it at night.

Another suggestion is to use it after you wash with the Glycolic Facial Cleanser by Anthony. This product is paraben free and for normal to oily skin. I discovered that it cleansed my face and neck without leaving a soapy residue. The scent is light, fresh and contains chamomile and aloe to hydrate and soothe razor bumps.

My last pick for this fall is by our tried-and-true friends at Kiehl’s Since 1851. They just launched their “Heavy Lifting” Eye Repair. The formula has a powerful blend of Rye Seed, Linseed and Caffeine which helps to visibly strengthen and firm-up the skin around the eye area.

Men’s skin is typically 25% thicker than woman’s. However, the skin around the eye area is equally thin and vulnerable for both sexes. As men age, the eye area loses its firmness and gives way to crow’s feet, deep wrinkles and dark circles. This cream was clinically tested and could help stave off some of the damage caused by the sun and maturity. I tried it. I like it. I recommend it.
