Ah yes, the heat is subsiding, the kids are back in school and the tourists have returned from whence they came — it’s fall travel season and the best time to book a trip. Regardless if you are traveling for business or pleasure, the next several months are when the lines are shorter and you can get a great vacation package that is lighter on the wallet.
I’ve done a little research and discovered some really cool items to pack and take along with you to make your travels even more enjoyable.
We all are used to stripping down at airport security but now there is an essential accessory that holds up your pants and you won’t have to remove it for the TSA. Simple.be makes a collection of belts including their ZigZag style (above). They are colorful, durable and made without any metal to set off an alarm when passing thru security. For casual travelers, you can choose from an array of colors. For businessmen, you can choose black or brown unless you’re a rebel at the office, then I suggest the hot pink one.

Fresh Wave offers a travel size spray that you will never want to leave home without. This natural odor eliminator can be used on a plane, train, in a car and at your final destination. It’s perfect to keep in your gym bag too. This is not a perfume so much as a breath of fresh air that eliminates any odor quickly. They offer several products for the home, kitchen, bath, etc., and their products are safe around pets. I’m a very big fan of their entire line — the scent is made with natural extracts of lime, pine needle, aniseed, clove and cedarwood. You and your olefaction will thank me for this recommendation.

For the active traveler, I recommend Native Shoes. This awesome and quirky footwear are one of the most comfortable shoes that I’ve ever worn. They come with holes perforated on the top that keep airflow on your feet as you walk, tour, hike or bike. The collection comes in amazing colors and the rubber structure is very durable. I’m a fan of the Jefferson style (above). I’ve tested them in every climate but a torrential downpour. That’s your choice.
Native Shoes are available at Nordstrom.

Need a new pair of sunglasses for your excursion? Check out Canvas Eyewear. I love this concept. You basically design your own shades. They have templates and various lenses to create your prototype or you can actually upload your own pattern or design. The step-by-step instructions are very easy to follow and your personalized glasses will be delivered within just a few days. You can create several pairs and coordinate them with your business or bathing suit. Awesome!

I recently ventured into the Pennsylvania Mountains and was in a remote area with little access to the Internet let alone civilization and electricity. I took along the CRANK Dart charger for smartphones. This tiny yet powerful battery was a lifesaver. After three days in the wilderness, my lifeline to humans was losing juice and I was worried about not having enough cell power in case there was an emergency. The Dart packs enough strength to reenergize any smartphone 1-2 times with 100% capacity. It’s small enough to pack for long or short trips and comes with a USB cable. My iPhone cable did the rest.
The VinniBag is probably one of the coolest items that I’ve come across recently to make traveling a little less cumbersome. If you love to visit vineyards or tour gift shops and antique stores for that one-of-a-kind delicate gift, this item is a must-have.
The VinniBag is a reusable travel companion that will protect everything from a nice bottle of wine, expensive spirits or even a fragile collectible. In a nutshell, the bag is inflated with air that surrounds the item and keeps it safe for transport. They have a video on their website with simple instructions. What I also like about it is that it collapses down to the size of a envelope when not in use.

Nestled up on a cliff or tethered between two palm trees, I chose the Kammok for those who seek adventure and extreme sports. These durable and resourceful suspension beds are, in one word, amazing. For guys and gals who love the outdoors, this is a necessity for your next thrill seeking escape. They come in different styles depending on your needs: The Roo, Python Straps, Dragonfly and Glider. They are compact for easy carrying and the colors options run the spectrum.

For me, travel is all about lounging around after meetings, touring, working out or exploring. That’s why I was absolutely thrilled to discover Bread & Boxers. This clothing line makes some of the most comfortable loungewear on the planet.
The company started as an extension to the mini-bar with a successful launch by two entrepreneurs who got the idea while staying in a hotel across the Atlantic. The concept began with the basics and undergarments for men and women who travel lightly. It’s as simple as making a reservation or room service — comfortable “unmentionables” and casualwear delivered right to your room.
Since their beginning in 2008, the business has expanded and these fabulous garments are now available in various shops, hotels and airports on both sides of the pond. Luxury.
