First, the world’s largest toy store came to Times Square, Toys ‘R’ Us.
Then, the world’s biggest music store couldn’t be overshadowed and it, too, is in the crossroads of the world, Virgin Megastore, in Times Square.
The city that hosted two World’s Fairs – both in Flushing Meadows/Corona Park in 1939 and 1964 – was a natural choice to host and become a permanent home for the world’s largest maternity store. Destination: Maternity is due today, February 1 to the general public. And, this gala opening day’s the start of what every expectant mother could ever want or need through her exciting nine months.
Located on Madison and 57th Ave, 575 Madison Avenue plays hostess to mommies to be and those who love them. Visitors will enjoy three floors of maternity outfits to dress the glowing expectant mommy in. A Pea in a Pod™, Mimi Maternity™, Motherhood Maternity™ and Edameme™ are just a few elegant maternity fashion lines. And, featured in this one-of-a-kind maternity find, is a mini art galleria called The Art of Maternity. Housed here is a one-week Henry Moore exhibition, showcasing the 20th century artist’s sculptures of different mother and child poses.
Maternity: Destination’s designers didn’t leave out older siblings or the doting dads. Kids can enjoy the Kiddie Corral and The Learning Studio, and the fathers who can’t get enough sports, have a Relax Area all for them: leather reclining chairs with plasma screen TVs filled with all the ESPN they can digest.
While the dads are ESPN busy, expectant moms can obtain an autographed copy of Destination: Maternity’s 51Secrets of Motherhood, authored by Rebecca Matthias, who is also founder of the world’s largest maternity retailer. If pregnant moms are looking to stay in shape during and post with child, they’re free to visit Buff Moms and Buff Moms to Be author Sue Fleming’s fitness demonstration, participate in a belly dancing demonstration with Ms. Renzin or opt for a prenatal class with socialite and yoga expert, Anna Getty.
Financing college, breastfeeding and belly psychic classes will be available on Maternity’s opening due date, promising to be most entertaining and knowledgeable for the expecting and shopping public. For further details, please visit http://www.destinationmaternity.com or phone 212 588.0220.
Thanks to Destination: Maternity, the stork is now officially – and happily – retired to Florida. I wonder if we’re going to have a jersey rafters ceremony for him at Madison Square Garden. It’s the least we mommies can do.
