What’s for Dinner? Hello Fresh!

It’s something I have everyday. It’s something I’ve quite enjoyed in the past. And it’s something that often leaves me feeling happy and satisfied. But ever since having kids, all it does is stress me out. What am I talking about? Dinner. Fortunately, I discovered Hello Fresh, so dinnertime just became a whole lot easier, healthier and more delicious than ever.

Hello Fresh is a subscription-based service that delivers to your doorstep fresh ingredients and clear, easy-to-follow recipe cards so that you can make your entire family at least 3 healthy and delicious meals a week in less than 30 minutes. Everything you need, including all ingredients pre-washed and pre-measured and clear, idiot-proof recipe cards, is right there in the cooler box (made with recycled materials for those environmentally conscious moms). Both classic meat/fish and vegetarian boxes are available.

It’s so convenient and easy. The ingredients are sourced from the best purveyors in the country. The cost per meal is very reasonable, especially when you consider all the extra food you buy at the supermarket that you end up having to throw out. And the meals chosen each week ensure you’re eating a well-balanced, low-calorie meal while expanding your culinary palette with dishes you’d never think to make on your own. During our first week, we enjoyed Thyme Roasted Chicken, Sesame Crusted Salmon and Beef and Broccolini Flatbread. Each dish looked and tasted like it was from a 5 star restaurant.

I’ve never considered myself much of a chef – I’ve always been a big fan of the microwave and take-out – but what I love most about Hello Fresh is the cooking process. The pre-measured ingredients and step-by-step instructions make me feel like I’m Rachel Ray, and my kids love being my little sous chefs. The presentation of the food is just gorgeous, and because they’re so involved and fascinated with the cooking process, I’ve been able to say goodbye to short order cooking and those kid-diet staples like mac and cheese and chicken nuggets. The only ones not thrilled with Hello Fresh are the restaurants we used to call for delivery every night.
