Fashion Week Goes To the Dogs

Robert Verdi’s fabulous “Lux Lab” hosted a Shabby Dog Brunch during New York’s Fashion Week. I’m a dog lover and owner and always feel, shall I say, distraught when I have to leave my Yorkie behind in my Manhattan apartment. In Paris I can bring her everywhere and never experience separation anxiety. So during Fashion Week when   Miss Chelsea (my adorable 5lb Yorkshire Terrier) and I were invited to Robert Verdi’s palatial beauty oasis for Sunday brunch I was ecstatic.

All the city’s fashion editors were invited to bring their dogs for a weeklong experience of beauty, fashion and refreshments. Of course there were fab clothes and accessories for our pups too.  I just loved  a 50’s style box handbag in retro colors, which cleverly opened to reveal a food and water bowl for the dog on the go

Miss Chelsea and I were greeted by numerous dogs and their fashionable owners on our arrival. I discovered that many were rescue dogs, and all displayed unusual playful personalities and a unique bond with their owner. Miss Chelsea just stayed in my arms, close to my heart, happy to be part of the festivities. I was content. We met Robert Verdi just as he walked into his lux loft. His dog wagged his tail when he met Miss Chelsea for an instant connection. Robert and I began to talk and I learned his dog was a rescue from a shelter as well, and he had it for just two months.

I am so happy to report that rescuing pups is growing trend. More people are experiencing the benefits of helping to adopt animals that have been abandoned. These animals seem to know how lucky they are and reward us with so much love and a gratifying feeling that we are making a difference. I received my beautiful Yorkie from 911Yorkie Rescue which does a phenomenal job at rescuing dogs from puppy mills, shelters and owners who can no longer can care for their pets. Visit their website for update and picture of the cutest pups.

Now since it can’t be all about the dog, I checked out some items for myself. I’m a gal on the go so I appreciate a beauty product that does double duty. Stila’s pomegranate crush lip & cheek stain gives cheeks a luminous natural glow that complements the sheer color on the lips. I love when I can look great and no one knows it’s the makeup that enhances my already sculpted face. Thanks to makeup artist David Birdwell for giving me the most sultry smoky eyes at the Stila makeup clinic.

I found  perfectly fitted, tailored, sexy jeans from  Vintage Revolution at  They give you the shape you crave and the soft denim is so comfortable.  I had to have the latest in form- fitting jackets from Tulle to coordinate with the mini-skirts that I recently rediscovered from my closet. Paired  with leggings and great boots and I’m complete.

Check out these new styles for a casual weekend with your dog at the local dog run and I can assure you, you and your pup will be the trend setting fashionista of the neighborhood. Even if you don’t have a dog, the city’s dog runs are great places to see man¹s best friend at play, and meet some great people! If you want to get out of the city for the day 911yorkie rescue has great events, listed on their website and perhaps you¹ll want to become a volunteer!
