I have had my share of facials, and absolutely love them, but as I have gotten older I realize that the effects of most facials simply don’t last beyond the day I get them. I was eager to try out the Hydrafacial at Trifecta 57 Med Spa because it was touted as having lasting results. My skepticism was high when I went for my appointment, but the process really made me a believer in this facial.
What is a Hydrafacial? It sounds like just a regular facial, but it is so much more. It is a non-invasive, multi-step treatment that incorporates hydradermabrasion, a chemical peel, painless extractions and an infusion of antioxidants, hyaluronic acid and peptides. The Hydrafacial benefits many different skin problems, including fine lines and wrinkles, acne, enlarged pores, brown spots and hyperpigmentation. Best of all, there is no down time or irritation after the treatment.
During the Hydrafacial I lay down on a table with a towel robe that fastened under my arms with my shoulders exposed. The facial began with cleansing and exfoliating the skin using a small, automatic brush-like tool that delivered the products onto the face. Next is the peel that contained glycolic and salycilic acid. This peel was gentle and did not cause me any discomfort beyond a slight tingle. The extraction step is the most interesting because instead of dreading each pinch, you simply listen to a sucking sound as impurities are lifted and pulled from your skin. In the end all the junk lands in the bottom of a liquid vial that you may or may not want to look at. The final step is awesome as your newly cleansed skin receives a dose of the good stuff: antioxidants, hyaluronic acid and peptides.
Despite how good my skin felt, I was not prepared for how fantastic it looked. It was hands down the best first look in the mirror I have ever had after a facial. The most impressive thing about the Hydrafacial is how long the effects last. For me, it was at least one week of glow and freshness that stayed with my skin. I needed and wanted less makeup than ever, and I am a makeup person. I wanted to show off my skin and it actually looked better without the usual foundation I wear. Now that says a lot for someone like me who would usually not even go to the supermarket without foundation.
I am truly a convert when it comes to this facial, and will definitely return for more. I can’t imagine what a second treatment will do for me, but if it’s half as good as the first, I will be ecstatic.
