Glowing, Radiant Skin is Yours at the Guerlain Spa in NY’s Waldorf Astoria

The luxurious Guerlain Spa in the Waldorf Astoria hotel recently launched the new Abeille Royale Repairing Honey Gel Mask. This unique treatment is infused with raw, organic honey and pure royal bee concentrate to deliver intensive repair to dry, dehydrated skin. Perfect to indulge in at the end of the summer and the beginning of fall, it helps the skin repair from summer damage and get ready for fall.

Honey and Royal Jelly are both some of the most prized substances in skin care. Raw, unheated honey packs active enzymes and alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliate the skin softly. It also contains antioxidants and antibacterial hydrogen peroxide that clarify the skin. Royal jelly on the other hand contains 17 amino acids, vitamin B and trace minerals. Fed to the Queen Bee in form of a milky substance in the hive by the worker bees, the Queen Bee lives 40 times longer than the worker bees. It is this same substance that is used in anti-aging and cell-rejuvenating skincare to increase radiance, erase lines and regenerate the skin.

What sets apart the Abeille Royale from other honey and royal jelly based skincare lines is that it infused with raw, organic honey and pure royal concentrate produced by worker black bees on the island of Ouessant, in Brittany, France. Self-contained and shielded from pesticides and parasites on the island, the honey and royal jelly produced there have become the standard of absolute purity.

The 80-minute Abeille Royale Youth Facial I was given by Alina Cimpoeru, lead esthetician at the Guerlain Spa, includes several steps. First a cleansing of the face, neck and décolleté was performed with the cleansing milk, then the face, neck and décolleté were exfoliated with exfoliator powder under steam to stimulate the active ingredients. This deep exfoliation used natural raw material and rice powder to obtain immediate radiance. The skin was then toned with the Abeille Royale Toner. After that a healing facial massage was performed with two heated stamps filled with natural raw materials offering purifying and healing benefits. The heat is essential to deliver the essence and active elements of the raw materials in order to effectively purify, heal and oxygenize the skin in preparation for the next steps.

The Abeille Royale Serum came next to stimulate the key mechanisms in the skin’s healing process to repair small wrinkles and address tissue firmness. In the end, the Abeille Royale Youth Serum and Eye Cream were applied to moisturize the face, neck and décolleté.

Massage of the face and hands are part of the treatment to help you totally relax and enjoy the facial as a full sensorial and psychological experience as well. No Queen Bee in a hive has ever had it any better.
My skin looked radiant and clear after my visit. For post-treatment pampering, the spa’s “Final Touch” offers complimentary make-up refresh. Try to plan this facial around a special event and you will walk out of the Waldorf Astoria feeling and looking beautiful ready to enjoy the night.

One of the first to launch this mask, Guerlain Spa guests can also enjoy a preview purchase at the Guerlain Spa Boutique. Additional treatments include the one-of-a-kind “Milk, Haute Honey and Rooftop Herbs” mani/pedi, utilizing Top of the Waldorf Rooftop Honey and herbs sourced from the hotel’s rooftop beehives and garden.
