Setai Means Serenity

Truth told, I don’t really know if Setai means serenity or not, however, it should. In the busy concrete jungle we live in, walking into the Setai Spa is like entering a parallel universe that is a calm oasis and offers an atmosphere that is both zen like as well as luxurious; and the two cohabitate nicely together.

Located in the heart of the financial district, the Setai Wall Street offers spa treatments and an overall experience that is truly exceptional. I booked a facial and was told to come early if I chose, so that I could enjoy the other amenities as well. There’s a full gym and though I didn’t exercise, had I wanted to, workout attire would be provided. The attention to detail is wonderful, they’ve thought of everything so that we don’t have to. Although it’s a new place, the executives are seasoned veterans from some of the best spas around including Cornelia and the Peninsula.

I’m not a big fan of pools or swimming but when my eyes feasted on the gorgeous and serene jacuzzi area – called the Aqua Grotto – I was sorry that I hadn’t brought a swimsuit. Not a problem! A throwaway one piece tank suit was given to me so I could indulge. And indulge I did! .The therapeutic mineral pool, the Finnish sauna, and the aroma therapy steam room made the outside world fade away. The area is for women only and men are offered the same amenities in their own area. After that, I was brought into the elegant tea lounge for a cup of tea and some sweet nibbles.

Now ready for my facial in a lovely spa room, my esthetician analyzed my skin and prescribed the best procedure and products for me. I had the Setai Essential Facial which uses the June Jacobs line of high quality spa products. I fell into a dreamy state as she gently cleansed, applied products, massaged, and did a mask treatment The products used in this facial include lactic acids, peptides, botanical extracts, anti-oxidants and hydrators. A relaxing hand massage with rich cream was also part of the treatment.

Other spa treatments include massages, couples treatments, reflexology, manicure/pedicure, waxing, and personal training in the gym.

Changing back into my clothes and glancing at my skin, it looked soft and wonderful as I went back outside and was forced to join the real world once again – but this time, with radiant skin and the feeling of well being.
