Spotlight On: Jamaica Inn

Looking for a quiet respite from the rush of day to day, and the unending chatter of electronics? Head to the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, a quiet, beachfront resort that promises an indulgent stay without the distractions technology can provide.

Since 1950 this resort has catered to couples – Arthur Miller and Marilyn Monroe even spent their honeymoon here. Start your stay with a complimentary rum punch and head straight to the beach, where lounge chairs are assembled in twos. Or sit on your private balcony or patio and watch the sun set. Either way, the Jamaica Inn makes for an incredibly romantic stay!

Book a room for two, or look into one of Jamaica Inn’s cottages. Cottages have their own private swimming pools and entrances to the ocean, if you’re enjoying your privacy too much to head to the beach. If privacy is a true value, book the White Suite which is situated on its own private peninsula with a 360 degree gorgeous view of the Caribbean!

Rooms come equipped without a television, clock, or any other electronics, which I found so peaceful – no artificial light while I’m trying to sleep! However, if work must come with, Wi-Fi is available everywhere on the resort.

Proving to be the perfect place to unwind, Jamaica Inn also boasts the Kiyara Ocean Spa, set into the bluffs over the ocean, giving an amazing view during equally exceptional treatments. Book a romantic couples massage or take the opportunity to have some “alone time” with a reflexology treatment as you watch the sun dip below the horizon.

After a day of relaxation, enjoy a twilight cocktail hour and dinner, accompanied by an island band every night. Indulge in top island cuisine and dance to the island beat before retiring to your room to be soothed to sleep by the soft crash of waves, mere yards from where you lay.

While this is a quiet place, set back from the hustle and bustle of other neighboring resorts, it’s location in Ocho Rios is right amongst some of Jamaica’s top attractions. Go out and explore Dolphin’s Cove, climb Dunes River Falls, but return for a peaceful sleep, the ocean and tree frogs your only soundtrack.
